Hello neighbors, it is that time again for National Night Out! I will host NNO at my house, 950 Cornsilk, Tuesday Oct. 4th from 6-8pm. This is a great way to meet new neighbors and catch up with ones you not have seen in awhile. Again this year, we will be collecting can goods for the local food drive. There will be BBQ hotdogs and hamburgers and other goodies. We thought it would be fun for the kiddos to wear their Halloween costumes and bring a pumpkin to decorate. My trampoline was moved to the very back of my fence and damaged. I had a folding chair attached to the trampoline by zip ties which were also cut. The trampoline was staked into the ground and those were also pulled up. There are drag marks from where it was to where I found it. Has anyone else had any recent problems in our neighborhood?

A lavon resident's home in Lake Ridge Meadows burnt down this morning. The family, a Wylie Police Officer, lost everything. Town Hall Meeting June 11, 6 -8pm @ Cowboy Church on Hwy 6

I wanted to make an inform decision for myself befor Saturday's Town Hall Meeting, so I walked in to the PD and asked for their case log. Out of 1289 calls, only 255 were county calls which equates to 19% of their calls. Of those county calls, 172 are within 3 miles (68%). Of those, several are accidents down in the valley of Hwy 78 and off of Hwy 205. So out of 3230 patrol hours, only 6% (193.2 hours), were outside of the city limits.

3rd Annual Bently Farms Easter Egg Hunt

Time: 10 am

Ages: Infant to 10 years old

We are going to need lots of donations for candy, small toys, stickers, or whatever else can fit into eggs so that we can fill the garbage bag of eggs we have from the past two years. We will need these within the next week (no later than April 18th).

If it rains, we will try to reschedule. Last year we didn't have too many kids, so come out this year and meet the rest of our neighbors!

Please bring drinks and snacks if you could as kiddos will be thirsty after chasing eggs around.

City Council Meeting

I encourage everyone to attend the City Council Meeting on March 15th. There is a potential land deal that concerns the city and everyone should be informed of the terms of the deal. The Mayor confirmed at the last council meeting there would be an opportunity to discuss the land deal at the following council meeting which is March 15, 2011. I have done some research and their are several concerns. Conflict of Interest and a Tax Shelter for the Land Developer among the top. I am looking forward to understanding more about this deal and what options are available to the City including terminating the deal! Please come and take an interest in what's going on in our wonderful City!

Quilt Square

It is a tradition in China for families adopting babies to collect 100 well wishes quilt squares to sew a quilt out of. This will be handed down from generation to generation. I started collecting these squares three and a half years ago when we started our adoption process. At this time I still need 40 squares to have enough to sew Ally's quilt. I, Debra Warren, would like to address the anonymous writer to the letter that was mailed to my house on Oct.5, 2010. The letter went on to state that my house was the only unsitely home in the neighborhood, with huge mounds of dirt and concrete in the yard.
Over one month ago the dirt piles were levelled out with a rented Bobcat and the concrete pieces, which weren't even mine, were to be removed. We have been in search for a commercial tiller for a while now and just this weekend tracked one down, in order to finish the yard off.
I am so sorry that this has not been done in a time frame that pleases you. In the last few months I have had several surgical procedures done and my husband works over 70 hour weeks. But, you would not know this because you have not taken the time to see if everything in my house is going okay.
Just to let you know the work done in my yard is to please me and my family and NOT a response to your letter. If you do not like what you see turn your head or drive the other way!

Hats off to the Eli family for the great hospitality they extended last night by hosting NNO to all neighbors in Bently Farms.

I arrived late due to my work schedule and there were still allot of neighbors enjoying the evening and company. So good to be able to see the faces normally seen going by our house in or out of the neighborhood. To get to actually visit and catch up.

This is no easy task to pull off and I personally would like to thank everyone involved weather you were the host, brought a dish to share, donated some tables, chairs or simply shared a smile with a child while you were there. We are so fortunate to live in a neighborhood were people really have core values and care about one another.

We are looking for a volunteer from phase three to host the 2011 Event. Please contact Jeaneen Eli if you would like to chair the event. It will be fun to move it from one phase to another from year to year so the same are not having to host each year. We have so many talented individuals will be fun to see what you come up with.

Also we asked for donations to put towards our water fund for the entry way and raised $29 please if you can donate to the water department as we are currently out of funds.

A directory was also handed out to anyone who came with all the neighbors information that was given and updated last year at NNO. If you would like to be added to next years directory or have any changes that need to be made please email them to mibero@yahoo.com so these may be done. If we get several a new directory will be printed and available within weeks.

Hello Bently Farms neighbors! We have only 2 weeks until NNO with no plans in the works for us to get together. I will head it up but I will need help. I will have it at my house at 950 Cornsilk. I have a volleyball net that I will set up and will make tea and a punch. We will need cups, cookies, chairs and a couple folding tables. We can have the sign up sheets for mowing the entry along with a drop box for those who can donate money to watering the entry. Which by the way the water dept. account for the entry is at $0. I just wanted to pass along some official information in reference to last night. As you are aware, on 8-12-10 there were 15 addresses that were vandalized. Last night there were 7 more. That brings the total to 22 homes in two days. The addresses are as follows:

905 Lakeridge
814 Meadowhill
171 & 187 Bently
840, 841 & 865 Corn Silk

On 8-13
516 & 520 Lake Rd
345, 355, 375 & 395 Meadow View
935 Lakeridge

It looks like the suspects are expanding their territory. 8-13 was the first occurrence outside of the Bently Farms and Lakeridge Meadows neighborhoods.

Same paint, same symbol, same time period. There were some neighbors that actually pursued one of the suspects and provided us with a description. The description given is a white male, about 5’10”, wearing glasses and a “beanie” on his head.

It seems that the suspects are getting bolder; they were rattling door handles last night as if making an attempt to gain entry in to at least one residence. This is EXTREMELY dangerous. Everyone needs to remember that you have an absolute right to protect your lives, home, and property. Please use extreme caution. If you think there is a possibility that someone is on or around your property, call 911. Let us come check it out. All of us want this vandalism episode to end, but none of us want this to end tragically. If we all work together we’ll solve this crime.

Also, to all the parents, please talk to your kids. Take the appropriate measures to keep your kids indoors at night.

We are going to have a special visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse and maybe a monster truck for the boys and big boys (dad's)!! Looking at the Lavon, Tx Facebook page, there was some spray paint vandalism in Bently Farms and in Lakeridge Meadows in early July. They have painted the Bently Farms crime watch sign, as well as graffiti on fences and houses in Lavon. Let's keep the neighborhood safe and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

I tried hard along with other neighbors to get a volunteer to spearhead the NNO event this year . Due to events in my life right now I am not able to chair the event. It is allot of work but worth the efforts to see all the neighbors unite and enjoy the evening together.

Last years planning began six months in advance and brought out more neighbors than ever before. I am willing to provide the list of vendors who donated items for NNO last year to anyone willing to take charge.

"The Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2009. at the Farmers Branch Historical Park at 2540 Farmers Branch Lane Gates Open at 7:30 p.m. Free Admission; Low-level Fireworks at Approximately 9:...35 p.m. Admission is free.

Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual “Family Fourth Celebration” on Sunday, July 4, in Breckinridge Park. This traditional, patriotic salute is free and open to the entire community. I don't know how many of you have seen the movie "The Secret" or read the book; however, I personally think it is a very, very good story. I am going to start posting some of the daily messages that I receive that are inspirational. Here is the first:

Wylie police said a child was found dead this morning in the 1900 block of Skyview Drive, in a park by Lake Lavon.

No details were immediately available; it was not known whether the child was a boy or a girl, nor was the possible manner of death disclosed.

The body was found around 9:10 a.m.

Police said they planned to brief the news media later today.

The park where the body was discovered is East Fork Park.
