All is Quiet!
Well guys not a whole lot going on the end of this week here in the neighborhood. Just the kids all going back to school.
Keep checking in though because there have been a couple of real good freebies I have posted on here. You don't want to miss out on them. I recieved a sample of mouthwash and toothpaste from Crest today. It was actually a nice sample. And then a box of cereal and a cereal bar yesterday!
Get out and enjoy the weather this weekend, it's supposed to be a lot cooler (If you call the lower 90s cooler)!

Recipe!
Good morning Bently Farms! What a beautiful morning it is.
Well it's our kiddos second day of school. The first day was pretty uneventful with minor complaints. So I guess that is a wonderful thing. Both of my boys said that there were quite a few new kids in their grade this year. I guess that only goes to show our town is growing!
Please remember to donate a little for the Rutledge family's post below. Also a friendly reminder, we are still looking for donations for our neighborhood night out. I know that all these donations add up, so it is asking a lot!
There is going to be a carnival this year at NeSmith elementary run by the PTO. Planning is in the beginning stages. They are looking to raise a good chunk of money to help buy some of the things that didn't come with this elementary school that the other one has. If you have kids that attend NeSmith, please get a hold of the PTO. If you're a small business, they are planning on having booths to rent. See your ears open for more to follow at a later date!
Recipe!
Peanut Butter Cake - umm good!
1 cup water
2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
Boil and cool a little. Add 2 cups sugar, 2 cups of flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 teaspoon soda, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Bake in sheet cake pan 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost while hot.
Frosting
1 stick margarine
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
Bring to a boil then add about 1 pound confectioners' sugar. Mix until smooth.

School
Well I would love to take this moment to tell all of our school-age kiddos to enjoy their very last day at home. School starts bright and early Monday morning. Where oh where did summer go!
Moms and dads remember it's still tax free shopping weekend for school supplies and clothing. I took full advantage of that yesterday and saved!
Other than school starting, all is quiet here in our neighborhood.

Funny Weather
Wow wasn't the clouds and wind nice to see last night! I was really hoping it would drop some rain. But oh well.
I was surprised to see that a couple of our neighbors have left our neighborhood. They will be missed. I welcome any newcomers to our neighborhood and ask that you sign up on our neighborhood directory. It comes in very handy in case of an emergency.

Officer Kale is ordering all block captains special shirts to be worn on National Night Out. Please get a hold of her if you haven't heard about it yet. Yes they are $10 a piece, but with wearing these this year, we are trying to make the City of Lavon win the best National Night out city in Texas for '09!

Just letting you guys know there will be 3 males in the Lavon area until Sept 15th. They will be going door to door for a fundraiser for the Nevada/Lavon Volunteer FD. They should have an ID card with their name on it and a letter stating the fundraiser information. The three males that will doing the fundraiser. Please spread the word in your neighborhoods. Meteor Shower
Make sure and take a look at the night's sky! The meteor's are supposed to be quite common over this evening through tomorrow night with this morning before sunrise the best viewing time!
Thanks goes to all who attended our neighborhood meeting this past Sunday. Neighborhood night out is on the way to being spectacular. Funds are needed to pull this event off. If you can help, please contact Becky Cooper.
I was unable to attend the meeting due to being out of town on vacation. I am happy to hear the blog was discussed. I promise that you can really find out some neat things on here. I try to keep up with neighborhood happenings as well as free things that we can receive with little effort!
Does anyone know the person on Corn Silk that left the neighborhood lawn care flyer? If you do, let them know that I can put that on our blog if they email us. It's stuff like that, that can go on here!
