Thankful Post

Wow, can you believe it's Tuesday and Friday is Christmas! Where oh where has the time gone. The end of decade is soon upon us. I hope that that means the end of such as things as the bad economy with so many people losing their jobs and falling on hard times.

Our family has been blessed this holiday season with my husband getting a new job and a promotion at that job in such a quick manner. Our family has also been blessed with great neighbors. And not to say the least, blessed with good health this season!

I ask for all of you to say a little prayer for my husband's grandmother this holiday season as her health is not good and she has been hospitalized today. She is such a sweet little lady that we all adore! It seems like the holiday season is the time so many elderly people have problems.

God Bless!

Need Opinions

I see our Bently Farms Blog sign up front has decided to start bending. I could take some tape and try and fix it or take it down. Do you think enough of the neighborhood knows and remembers the blog address to just take it down or should I leave it up?

Please comment!

Merry Christmas!!! Plus a yummy recipe

Merry Christmas everyone. Today my son and I are doing some Holiday baking. We are making a Ginger Bread House and Cake balls. Here is the recipe for the cake balls which, by the way, are super easy and amazingly YUMMY!!!

Cake Balls
Bake a sheet cake of any kind (Today we are using red velvet.)
Let cool completely.
Crumble cake into a large mixing bowl.
Add about 3/4 container of frosting of your choice. Mix using an electric mixer. (I am using cream cheese cause you can't have red velvet cake without cream cheese icing) You have to kinda experiment with this step. Too much icing will make it too sticky but not enough will make it too dry. Start at 1/2 and then add a little more until it is at a moldable consistency.
Roll into balls and freeze for 15-20 minutes.
Dip into white chocolate or milk chocolate almond bark.
Add sprinkles if desired.

Try and not eat them all at once!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Just thought I'd share this picture of the Mackinaw Bridge that connects Lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula. This was taken by my best friend late in the fall and boy does it look cold. However, isn't it a beautiful bridge!
It's Christmas time! Lets quit complaining about the kids in the streets, city lights, and speed bumps for awhile! How about sharing favorite holiday recipes or interesting stories that are touching! I didn't create this blog to keep the complaining up. I created it to keep everyone informed, but here lately it's been complaining! It's funny that you all read it and can complain, but no one can be nice and post anything worth reading.

So for the remaining days of this year, let's see how many of our neighbors can post some nice thoughts, recipes, sayings, or thankful posts out for this holiday season! After all, this is supposed to be a Happy Time of Year!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Dear Neighbors,

It seems almost every time or every other time I get onto the neighborhood blog, I find it disheartening to see posts similar to the previous post. It is not pleasant to read anymore. Each of us have our own opinion, each one of us have our own standard of safety and rules set for our children. No, we do not have sidewalks and yes, we are fortunate enough to have moved onto 1/2 & 1 acre lots. It should not mean that we need be upset if there are children in the road. Where would you suggest the children to ride their bikes, skate boards, etc?

What I had gathered from the last city council meeting, is that there is a compromise that is going to take place in our community. The speed limit may not be raised, but no additional stop signs or speed bumps will be installed, and the lighting in our streets will be improved. It is not only the safety of the children in the neighborhood we need to be concerned for, but also the safety for all of us; neighbors & friends.

Please, just for one week during this Christmas holiday, please stop the negative posting on this blog. This is supposed to be a friendly blog to help our neighbors with news, updates and friendly reminders.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Safe, Happy Holiday!

Mindy Roberts
Today, many parents are giving their children a sense of entitlement by letting them do whatever they want. Not allowing children to play in the street is a rule that should be set by all responsible parents. Children in Bently Farms have VERY large yards by today’s standards, and they should be limited to playing in those yards. Since there are no sidewalks, families are forced to walk/ride their bikes in the street, but there is ample time and opportunity to teach our children to stop and pull to the side when a car is coming. I drive through this neighborhood all too often and young children are outside, unsupervised, riding their bikes IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET and don’t even attempt to move when a car comes, forcing the car to weave around them. These children have not had healthy, and safe, boundaries set for them, which is our responsibilty as parents.
Also, people in this neighborhood all have different opinions for reasons that are specific to them. If you don’t agree with me or my reasoning, that is fine, as you are entitled to your opinion. Villainizing anyone because of that opinion is ridiculous, yet some of you pushing for stop signs, low speed limits and speed bumps, are trying to make it look as though everyone against these measures do not care about the children of the neighborhood. This is not the case, as we care enough about them to set the necessary rules to keep them out of the street (where they don’t belong) in the first place. This argument has divided the neighborhood because so many people have acted as though their opinion is the only one that matters. STOP giving your neighbors that have different opinions dirty looks when they drive by and grow up. This is not about winning an arguement, it is about finding out what works for EVERYONE in the community.

Last Minute Favor

I have been in helping out at the toy drive today. What an eye-opening experience that was. Our neighborhood did a great job on giving; however, there is still alot of things that is needed. If any of you can buy clothes that are 10 or bigger for girls and boys: pants, shirts, shoes, socks, ... and drop them off at my house it would be wonderful! There are so many needy kids this year and they need this stuff bad! Thanks!

City Council Meeting Tues, Dec.15

12/14/09

It has already been noted that the council will meet Tuesday night at 7:00. Yes, it is important that we all come and support our neighborhood. The speed limit has been requested to be raised from school zone speed to a practical speed of 30 mph. The speed limit through the main part of Lavon is 40 mph and that doesn’t seem unreasonable, so 10 miles less seems reasonable for our area. This does not mean that we will try to run over kids in the street, but only that we will not need to ride our breaks to keep the slow pace that 20 mph requires. A ticket has already been issued this week to one of our neighbors for going 27 mph. As for the stop signs at both ends of Shoreview, it has been so noted that state law says “stop signs shall not be used to control traffic speed”. We have a great neighborhood and I have seen nothing but consideration from my neighbors that I see driving. Let’s not make a nice neighborhood one that is difficult to live in just due to a few who want to control our coming and going. We are adults and are either raising or have raised our own kids and care about this community and others who live here, but we do not want unnecessary rules and laws shoved down our throats. Come and support our neighborhood.

Sincerely,
Judy Adcock

Toy Drive Success!

Thanks my Bently Farms neighbors for again making this year a success in donating toys and clothing items to the toy drive. We gathered many things and Karen with Fostering Hope was thrilled at what we could bring them! Here are the pictures I said I would post. I'm not a great picture taker, but you can still see we did well!

Meeting Tonight open to Bently Farms

The committee meeting scheduled for tonight is according to Linda Ardis, secretary for the City of Lavon, NOT a city organized committee. Linda told me that since the city council did NOT vote on establishing the committee it is considered a neighborhood meeting. If you are a neighbor in Bently Farms, please plan to attend. This will affect everyone in the neighborhood not just the committee!

SAFETY MEETING

A reminder of the Safety meeting to be held tonight at City Hall at 7:30 pm. If you were put on the list at the last council meeting please plan to attend.

Pop Up Canopy

Does anyone have a pop up canopy or just the frame that I could borrow for this Saturday (12/5)?

Please let me know! I appreciate it very much.

Thank you,

MANY THANKS

In response to a phone call I received today from Pat Birchall I would like to clear any confusion to the previous post.

This was simply to let the group of individuals who the Mayor selected know when we would be holding our meeting. I agreed to be chair person for this group per the Mayors request.

This is to advise the following people that the meeting is set for Nov 30th at 7:30 pm at 984 Rolling Meadow Drive. This meeting is to review all ideas given by all citizens who attended the City Council meeting. The goal is to take information to the City for additional help with safety issues in our neighborhood.

Debra Warren was added to this list as she requested to be on the group that evening after the Council meeting. A call was made to Linda at the City Office by myself to make this addition and approved by . Linda (the city secretary). I received the list of names from her as well to make sure I had not missed anyone.

I am adding my personal cell phone here for anyone to feel free to call me with any imput or questions they may have. You may also email me at mibero@yahoo.com with any ideas you may have so I may present them to the group.

So starting tomorrow, we will start our countdown until our Toy Drive!
26 Days and Counting starting tomorrow!
Please also see on the back some quick notes!

Speed Humps

THINKING OF SIGNING THAT SPEED HUMP PETITION?
Here are some questions we thought you’d want the answers to. You may want to reconsider signing!

Fire at your house? Well, the fire truck will eventually arrive after it makes a complete stop at each hump. Time lost at each hump will be 15 seconds. Sit tight, help will arrive — later.

Relative having a heart attack? The ambulance will be there — later.

Does your youngster have skates, a skateboard or a bicycle? Speed humps attract children into the street and into traffic. It’s fun to jump those humps! The ambulance will be there — later!

Is your house attractive? How will it look with two of those 2 1/2-feet-square "Speed Hump - 20 mph" signs out in front? And those foot-wide zebra stripes on the hump? Lovely! Or maybe they won’t be in front of YOUR house. Do you feel lucky?

What do you think will happen to the suspension and exhaust systems on your nice car at normal, legal speeds when you cross those humps at least twice a day? Ouch! It’s hard on the brakes, too. And what about your wallet? Ouch!

Some vehicles, like delivery trucks and maybe your own SUV, almost have to stop at speed humps. What happens when vehicles unexpectedly stop in traffic? Back to the repair shop!

Are speed humps good for the environment? No, the unnecessary slowing and accelerating they cause results in wasted fuel and increased air pollution. Humps can cause noise pollution, too, because some drivers who aren’t happy with them will lean on the horn button.

Any way you look at them, humps are a major nuisance, and drivers may indeed avoid them so that traffic increases on neighboring streets. In any case, even if you’re the only one left driving on your street, you’ll have the pleasure of bounding over those humps every day, again and again and again....

Next to last question: Who’s paying the bill for installing or removing the humps? (Hint: It’s not the county.) You are! Ouch!

Have you thought about signing that petition? We hope you’ll reconsider

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERN

So glad to see the post of comments and interest in the neighborhood addressing the upcomming city council meeting this Tuesday Nov 17th. We live in a neighborhood of good people who really do want to address the concern and saftey of everyone who lives here.

We are going to the city council to see what can be done to improve the saftey here for everyone. To say speed humps or speed bumps will reduce the value of ones home as a recent flyer stated that was passed out simply is not so. Where is the data on this?? I have gone online and researched thru three seperate real estate brokers and all information I was given did not agree.

Do I like speed bumps or speed humps, No, however; is the safety of one child, pet or adult worth the effort of slowing down due to having them here in our neighborhood. ABSOLUTELY

The lighting in Bently Farms has been an issue since we moved here. Perhaps better lighting is the first step to take. In any event I hope everyone who attends comes with an open mind of the end goal.

SPEED HUMPS- LIGHTS - SIGNS

The meeting will be to address issues and concerns- Speed Humps- vs Signs and or puttting in both- the speed limit at 20mph simply is not followed as posted here. One would hope children would not play in the street, however; that simply put is not the case here. This is why we all need to do what we can to protect them. Everyones opinion is welcomed

Concerned Neighbor's Email to Bently Farms

If I heard correctly, the accident was due to a 2 year old running into the side of a car driven by a police officer that was traveling the speed limit. What good would inconvenient speed bumps have accomplished in this case? I disagree that we need speed bumps in our neighborhood. In fact, I think the speed limit of 20 MPH, which is the same speed as school zones, should be raised to 30 MPH. Older children should not play in streets made for cars and younger ones should always be watched. I have grandchildren who stay with me and I watch them when they are outside. That is not to say that they would not disobey me, but I do not see speed bumps as a solution.

I do agree that lighting is a concern. We could use more street lights and could use repair on some of the existing ones.

I am hoping we have a good turnout for the Nov. 17th council meeting.

A concerned neighbor,

Crime Info

PRAYERS FOR OUR NEIGHBORS

Our hearts go out to both families involved in the accident that happened on Rolling Meadow last night. Please keep both families in your prayers. We are glad to hear the boy is going to be well. This just serves as a reminder to all of us in the neighborhood how active it is here and that we have alot of children at play in yards, adults and children walking and darkness covering our sky earlier.

Please take time today out of your busy schedule to call the city office and request they add this item to the agenda for the next city council meeting to address the street lighting at Bently Farms.

National Night Out --- Slideshow

Hello neighbors!

Here are a few pictures that I had taken throughout our spectacular National Night Out last week! How wonderful it is to see so many new and familiar faces in our community. Thank you for taking a little time out of your busy schedules to come out and meet your neighbors! I haven't heard the results of who won the NNO, but at this point, I am not sure that matters. Within the last six years that we have lived in the community, this year's turnout was the largest. Thank you again Becky and Mike Cooper and the NNO committee for all that you have done to make this as successful as it was this year! ~Mindy R.

Checks Unlimited

Hey Neighbors:

Make sure to take a look at previous posts:

Coupons and Becky's Trunk Party this weekend!

I just ran across an awesome deal this morning through Checks Unlimited. If you're like me, you don't use that many checks; however, you still use some. I have always used Checks Unlimited to get my checks and never been disappointed.

I visited their site this morning and had two boxes of checks in my cart that added up to almost $32. I thought wow, that's alot of money I wonder if there is a code out there I can use for some savings. Well there was. After visiting Retailmenot.com, I found a code to use that brought the price way down per box of duplicate checks, gave me sixty sticky address labels free, and free shipping!

Using this code: 74YD at checkout brought my grand total to $17!

If you are close to needing checks, I would definitely recommend using Checks Unlimited with the code!

Our School Children Are Not Allowed to Talk

Dear neighbors I just resently found out that in the mornings when our children arrive to school they have to go sit in the gym and are not allowed to talk at all. They are allowed to read or do homework, I do not know of a single kindergartener who can read and it isn't until the middle of the first grade year that they can even read Dick and Jane. The doors of the schools open at 7:30 and most of the buses arrive at 7:35. That leaves our children sitting in silence for 30 to 40 minutes until the bell rings. I am lucky that I do stay home and can take my children to school, but that could change tomorrow. I have brought my concerns and remedies to the principal, which was recieved luke warmly. She has decided to start only with the kindergarteners, to be pulled out of the gym and read to by a volunteer. I am asking all parents to please help me and our children with this issue. Every volunteer is needed to turn this from a daily or even weekly event to a monthly or to maybe annually. To our early rising seniors, what better way to start your day than to help teach our future. I am hoping that a month after helping our kindergarteners we will be able to help the rest of the school. All that is needed is to fill out a three line back ground check and we will be in business. contact me jeaneeneli22@yahoo.com

NNO

The police department has informed me there is no scheduled rain date for NNO- as many of you saw on the 10 pm report last night there is a possiblility of some rain Tuesday. If the lot we plan on having the event on is too wet we will move it to the street.

If the rain is to hard to do that we will have a gathering in my garage. Now remember folks my garage is not as big as the street so it will be standing room only but we will be able to do the drawing for the prizes along with visiting with neighbors and friends.

Alot of hard work has gone into this project and we want everyone who can to come out and join in rain or shine.

Reminder to our Neighborhood!

After a very interesting day, I have a reminder for all of you. First it starts like this: I came back from shopping to find one of those people at my home that sells meat out of the back of their pickup. One of Lavon police officers was out of his car speaking to this guy. Upon walking past to go into my home I heard something like the officer asking him if he had a license to sell in the neighborhood. I do believe the answer was no and that he had no idea he needed a license. Another officer then pulled up and ran this guys license. I don't know exactly why, but they then searched the guy's pickup truck where they pulled a bag of pot or something out. The man was arrested and his truck towed.

This is just a reminder of how careful we need to be. This guy was probably harmless, but then again who knows. The next time you have a door to door sales person, make sure to ask them for their license for selling whatever they are selling. If they do not have it, make a note of the vehicle they are driving and the license plate number if you can. Then call Lavon police department. You just never know these days!

Enjoy the weather again today. It's going to be nice!

Please make sure and pull your garbage can in after the truck goes today!

If you are on of the homes in here with grass that has been mowed and in piles. Please take the time to rake it up. It makes it look all the better!

Recipe!

Good morning Bently Farms! What a beautiful morning it is.

Well it's our kiddos second day of school. The first day was pretty uneventful with minor complaints. So I guess that is a wonderful thing. Both of my boys said that there were quite a few new kids in their grade this year. I guess that only goes to show our town is growing!

Please remember to donate a little for the Rutledge family's post below. Also a friendly reminder, we are still looking for donations for our neighborhood night out. I know that all these donations add up, so it is asking a lot!

There is going to be a carnival this year at NeSmith elementary run by the PTO. Planning is in the beginning stages. They are looking to raise a good chunk of money to help buy some of the things that didn't come with this elementary school that the other one has. If you have kids that attend NeSmith, please get a hold of the PTO. If you're a small business, they are planning on having booths to rent. See your ears open for more to follow at a later date!

Well I would love to take this moment to tell all of our school-age kiddos to enjoy their very last day at home. School starts bright and early Monday morning. Where oh where did summer go!

Moms and dads remember it's still tax free shopping weekend for school supplies and clothing. I took full advantage of that yesterday and saved!

Other than school starting, all is quiet here in our neighborhood.

Clarification as well as being important!

The neighborhood meeting will be in the back yard at 984 Rolling Meadow Drive- (Mike and Becky Coopers home) between 4-5 pm on August 9th to plan this years Neighborhood night out set for October 6th.

The bicycle decorating contest is an idea we were putting out there for the event on October 6th for National nite out.

One of the ideas is to hold that event on the empty lot beside Karen and Tom Dyers home where perhaps we can set up games for the adults and children in one central location. . We are in desperate need of new volunteers to help spearhead these functions. I hope that everyone who can, WILL ATTEND, and bring new ideas and leadership to the event this year. The donation is simply to help provide funds for hotdogs, buns, soda and prizes for the children. (All just ideas at this point and open for discussion.)

Attention For the Second Day!

There is being planned a neighborhood meeting Aug. 9th between 4-5 pm in Becky Cooper's back yard. This may change to the empty lot that is Tom and Karen's lot, we will keep you updated.

This meeting is in regards to National Night Out as well as the recently brought up idea of putting speed bumps on Rolling Meadow due to many speeders.

There may also be a bike decorating contest for the kiddos that evening. We are hoping to get more of the neighborhood including some of our newer neighbors involved in some more adult functions. We are asking that each household donate $2 for purchase of hotdogs and soda and some prizes for the kids.

So please, let your neighbors know about this, because not all of us pay attention to this blog. Feel free to comment or Email us at Bentlyfarms@yahoo.com.

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Attention

Recently I have had several neighbors come to me to ask about getting speed bumps put in the main drag here on Rolling Meadow drive to perhaps slow drivers down in Bently Farms for the safety of our children and animals.

I have checked with the city and it seems this would be something we may need to perhaps take up a petition for and have community contributions to help pay.

Well I have added a calendar to our blog down on the right side here. I know sometimes having a calendar at your fingertips can be very nice. If you think I am putting too much on the right side please let me know!

Well it looks like the 100 degree weather may go away for a little while. So that will be a relief! I know the kiddos have been braving the outdoors quite a bit here lately! I have been making sure that they all get enough water in their systems.

Speaking of which, with neighbors having the swimming pools and the kids jumping from one pool to another, towels seem to just disappear. If you are having that problem and you want to solve it, I have a good solution. Embroidering your last name on their towel guarantees that the towel will probably be returned to you. Let me know and I'll be glad to embroider them!

Freebie For the Day

Gardening

Here's a reminder that if you had planned to plant a garden, you need to get in now so that it had time to ripen! I just got mine in today! I started vegetables in small paper cups first and let them start growing lightly watering twice a day. After two weeks they grow enough to put in the ground. If my garden works out right, I will post some pics later on!

Prayers

For all of you that believe in praying, can we ask that you pray for our family. We are adopting from China and adoption has become very, very slow. We are so hoping that we bring are little one home by Dec. 2010!

Anyone else need a prayer said for your family even if it is something small or something very big!

America's Got Talent

Did any of you watch this show tonight? The little nine year old boy that played the blues on guitar was spectacular! It is so interesting to see all of the little people who do neat things on this show!

City of Lavon Park

We need all of you to start bugging Mike Jones when you see him about the park that we are trying so hard to get put here in Lavon. This will have baseball fields for our little league as well as older men and ladies leagues. It will have football field as well as soccer field. There will be a kids play area and walking path. A pavilion for entertainment also to be put there. We have been trying for over a year, but for some reason Lavon city is working very, very slow. So maybe if we all start bugging him he will get moving on this. It would help Lavon bring people here and also make it a better place for all of us including the kids. There just isn't much here for any of us to do.

Thanks Again,

Mr. Teske for keeping the front looking very nice! We all owe you quite a bit!

If you could start clipping box tops from qualifying boxes, campbell soup labels, and even pop cans you would be doing a bunch of kids a lot of help this upcoming school year. Please collect them and then email when you need them picked up!

Birthday Announcements

I think we have missed a few kiddo birthdays this month. Moms and Dads you didn't let us know or we would have posted it on here! I may have to start offering a small gift for those who post their kids birthdays on here.

I am also posting anniversaries and other interesting info.

FaceBook

Many of our neighbors now are on FaceBook. Join this fun site and see how many of us you can find on there! It's been a fun way to keep in touch! Also a little addictive!

Drivers and Motorcycles

Please remember it's summer and you need to slow down while driving in the neighborhood. I've once again noticed a couple flying past homes. We don't want anyone hurt!

Wow the holiday is done!

Well, I hope you all had a great holiday weekend. It was hot, but I don't think that stopped many people. Stores were packed and the air outside was filled with the smell of barbeques.

It is the middle of summer for the kiddos, so what's next on the list?

Football, Football, Football!

Freebies will hopefully be back soon! I have received so many neat things this last few months!

Hello All Our Neighbors!

When I started this blog, I thought it was such a great idea in giving our neighborhood some ideas, as well as deals, and a way to spread the word on occasions. I realize there are some that just don't use the internet; however, I do believe most do. I will continue to keep it updated in hopes that some of you will comment, use the freebies, and use it for announcing things!

Welcome to our neighborhood to those who just moved in!

Freebies For The Day

Would you like to receive up to four free coupon for Mars free chocolate? Well here's a deal! Go to http://realchocolate.com/ and fill out their form to get your chance at winning! I have already received three out of four free coupons for chocolate and so has my mom!

If you would like to try Nature's Bounty Fish Oil free and a $1 coupon, click here.

Get a free quart of Glidden Paint, what an awesome offer! Click here to give their brand paint a try. I just ordered mine last night after needing to repaint bedrooms. I would like to give their's a try to try them out.

Embroidery:

Just a reminder that I (Cheri Lail) here in our neighborhood has a commercial embroidery machine and can do anything that you may need embroidered. I have supplied NeSmith Elementary school, CYA Baseball league, as well as Isuzu in embroidering apparel for their companies. Check out my website: PitchandStitch.com

National Night Out

I'll throw this out here again. Does anyone have any suggestions? I had originally rented a bounce house for the evening. After multiple attempts at asking for all of your help, I have had no response. Unless some of you want to step forward to help, I will have to cancel that bounce house! Remember this could be an awesome event with enough help!

Recycling

Remember to recycle on Fridays! It helps keep our earth green. And best of all, it only takes a minute to throw recyclable items in the bin instead of the garbage. All paper and magazines need to go to the bins at NeSmith elementary to help them raise money for school supplies! Every little bit here and there helps!

Yard Maintenance

There are a few in the neighborhood willing to do your yard mowing and weed wacking for a very reasonable price. Contact Bently Farms if interested.

Job Listings Asked For

Do you know of a job or have a job that needs help. Please contact Bently Farms to have it listed here.

I'm Back! Sorry about the delay in updating our site! It would be spectular if some of you would comment on here so that I know that people are looking at this!

Father's Day is Sunday! Don't forget your dad's; get them something wonderful!

It is very hot outside, not that you don't know that yet, but remember your animals that may be outside. They need cold water. And, whatever you do, don't leave your babies in the car for anytime at all!

Does anyone have any neat news to send out?

Freebies for the Day!

Quote for the Day

We are inclined to believe those whom we do not know because they have never deceived us. Samuel Johnson

Money Savings Tip

Take public transportation. If the city’s transit system is available near you, take it to work (or to play) instead of driving your car. It’s far cheaper and you don’t have to worry about parking your vehicle.

Congrats Norma for winning another term as Mayor!

Our Pokeeno group that we enjoy the second Wednesday of each month here in our neighborhood is in need of people to play. We have a lot of people who have played, but have been busy or just dropped out, so we need a couple of more ladies. Email us if you are interested. It is fun!

Remember our Neighborhood Yard Sale is the 30th of this month!

Once again, I see people that are driving faster than you are supposed to here in the neighborhood. Please slow down!

Remember tomorrow is Friday! Remember all papers and catalogs are being collected at NeSmith Elementary to help raise money. Please take just those items up there for recycling.

The front island looks great who ever mowed it. Anyone interested in secretly getting rid of that Classic Homes sign up front. It looks hideous!

Please keep patient with neighbors yards being mowed right now. My yard is going to take at least a week to even be able to get a lawn mower out on it because of it being drenched in water.

Freebies for the Day

Get a free Kellog's All-Bran Promise Pack that samples and coupons. Your Promise Pack will include: Strawberry Medley cereal sample, Strawberry Drizzle Fiber bar, Red Raspberry Fiber drink mix, and coupons (total value of $4 in savings). I had to register for an "All-K Pass" in order to request this sample, but it was easy to do. You can expect to receive your Promise Pack in 4 to 6 weeks.

Get a free sample of Bodycology hand soap, lotion, and mist in either Uplifting Coconut Lime (my pick) or Cozy Brown Sugar Vanilla

Money Savings Tip

Dig into your community calendar. There are often tons of free events going on in your town that you don’t even know about. Stop by the local library or by city hall and ask how you can get ahold of a listing of upcoming community events, and make an effort to hit the interesting ones. You can often get free meals, free entertainment, and free stuff just by paying attention - even better, you’ll get in touch with what’s going on around you.
