Cold air and wind! Yeah for the end of winter and hopefully the last blast of cold air. We're supposed to have frost by morning, so make sure and cover your plants and flowers!

Well the hype over Twilight being released was amazing. I haven't heard too many nice feedbacks on the movie though. I think most were a little upset and how it didn't really follow the book. Hopefully the next movie will be better. More exciting is the movie release of "Marly and Me" on Tuesday! I can't wait, that was such a great movie.

Easter Egg Hunt?

Some one is wondering if we are going to do a Easter Egg Hunt. I have wanted to do one for the last couple of years, but just run out of time. Even now, it is a little late to try to pull this off, but with everyone's help we could do it. There are a lot of little kids here in our neighborhood, this is a great way to pull everyone out and say hello!

Who would like to have an Easter Egg Hunt?

Should we put an age limit or egg limit to different age kids?

Where would we do it?

Can you all stuff eggs? Wrapped candy, change, etc...

When would we do this? Easter day mid morning, day before?

Let me know please!! This could be fun!

Movies

So how many of you are going to go buy "Twilight" this week. I can't believe how many people have fell in love with this movie. The book is better I think. I have so far read the first three books. I still have to read the last one!

Freebies

Here are some freebies I received this week. I tell you what, I won this week with these freebies. I received a free bottle of Suave shampoo, Head and Shoulder shampoo and condition samples, and a Thomas Train which would have costed $12! Where did Spring Break go? Here today, gone tomorrow! Our poor kids now have just over two long months to go to school without any breaks. The two days they would have had off they now need to make up for snow days! Go figure.

Yard Sale: Anyone have any dates in mind for a spring yard sale? I know a couple of you have mentioned you wanted to have one. Remember I have our neighborhood signs to put out, barring there are enough people participating.

Event for this weekend: If you have time this weekend go to the Heart of Texas Craft show at the Plano centre. It's supposed to be quite the event. While there, don't miss one of our fellow neighbors: Mindy Roberts featuring her home business of children's bows and tutus!
If you go to their website (Heart of Texas), you can print a coupon for a dollar off the price of admission.

I see someone mowed the front entrance today! Thank you!!! Speaking of which, I see there are a lot of weeds growing, does anyone want to pitch in to help buy some weed killer?

We are still needing our neighbors in the back to submit their contact information for our neighborhood list. Just know your information is not given out and is only used for important neighborhood events.

Again I will mention National Night Out. We have a bounce house reserved. We need someone to recommend some sort of lighting that will light the street a little better. Someone needs to come up with some games, a few need to pitch in with buying inexpensive prizes for the kids, and then we need to address how to come up with a good cook out. Let's make this year the best! If it doesn't turn out, it's everyone's fault that doesn't pitch in!

Have a great Saturday!

Well I made a big boo-boo! I was supposed to be in Michigan right now, but I bought my airline tickets for the wrong timeframe! Now I have to postpone my travel until there's no school or baseball games. I guess that may unfortunately be summer!

Well spring is certainly in the air. Birds are chirping, grass is greener, and the bugs are coming alive!

Cute saying about Women:

One Flaw In Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Well it's Monday, where did the weekend go? The week is supposed to improve as far as the temperature, so that's wonderful!

I am headed off to Michigan Tuesday morning, so I won't be posting again until this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Is there anyone doing anything fun for spring break?

I received an email from a gentleman that was looking for a home here in our neighborhood. He was impressed with our blog. So that was nice to hear.

I have a new recipe to post for Tuesday thanks to our wonderful neighbor Becky Cooper, yeah!

Money Savings Tip

Air up your tires. For every two PSI that all of your tires are below the recommended level, you lose 1% on your gas mileage. Most car tires are five to ten PSI below the normal level, so that means by just airing up your tires, you can improve your gas mileage by up to 5%. It’s easy, too. Just read your car’s manual to see what the recommended tire pressure is, then head to the gas station. Ask the attendant inside if they have a tire air gauge you can borrow (most of them do, both in urban and rural settings), then stop over by the air pump. Check your tires, then use the pump to fill them up to where they should be. It’s basically free gas!

Freebies for the Day

No luck today, maybe tomorrow!

Friday thank goodness! It's been a tiring week. I was supposed to have played Pokeeno with my girlfriends here in the neighborhood and just got wayyyy to busy! The weather has been nasty and no fun to be outside with, although the rain is nice to see. It's amazing how green it is outside now!

Well it's Friday already! Recycling day and it's windy, go figure! Remember to take any paper up to NeSmith's recycle bins to help them raise money. These days the school needs all the help it can get!

I see there is a raccoon that has been run over out on 75. I wonder if that is the one that my dogs were barking at last Thursday night. Poor thing!

Does anyone know of a good place to go to buy meat that is good and don't cost a lot. Meat is just way to much money, and I never buy it which is a problem when dinner comes around. Please comment!

Money Savings Tip

Check out what your town’s parks and recreation board has to offer. My town has several wonderful parks, free basketball and tennis courts, free disc golf, trails, and lots of other stuff just there waiting to be used. You can go have fun for hours out in the wonderful outdoors, playing sports, hiking on trails, or trying other activities - and it’s all there for free. All you have to do is discover it. (There soon will be one of these here in Lavon, stay tuned)

That's funny, back on Saturday, Feb. 21st I made the comment wouldn't it be nice sitting on the porch in eighty degree weather drinking lemonade. It has been eighty degrees this week!

I have seen ladies out walking this week. Go ladies! That is something I need to start doing again.

Last night my dogs kept barking at my car. I went out and there was a raccoon up in the tire. So, any of you planting may want to set a trap to get him. He is quite big! Please don't shoot him, just catch him and relocate him.

I will ask all of you again and hope to get someone to comment back. It would be nice to get a neighborhood recipe book put together, but without some of you helping send recipes that can not be done! I have used all my recipes so far, now it's your turn.

Money Saving Tip

Invest in a deep freezer. A deep freezer, after the initial investment, is a great bargain. You can use it to store all sorts of bulk foods, which enables you to pay less per pound of it at the market. Even better, you can store lots of meals prepared in advance, enabling you to just go home and pop something homemade (and cheap) in the oven.

Freebies for the Day

I've already used this great coupon! Get a free Roastburger from Arby's with any soft drink purchase. Arby's really wants you to try their new "burger". This coupon expires on Saturday, March 14. I highly recommend signing-up for Arby's Extras to get more coupon offers in your inbox!

Sorry, sorry I haven't updated our site in the last couple of days. I just got majorly lazy! Not a good thing to have happen to one's self. Maybe I can blame the weather, maybe not!

It's Tuesday again, no one wanted my jar of hot peppers. Like I said, they were just opened and have been in the refrigerator. Nothing is wrong with them besides being way too hot for my mouth!

Recipe Tuesday

I usually don't get the cookbook out, but here is a recipe I made for the first time a couple of days ago and boy was it good!

Fettuccini Alfredo

1/3 cup half-and-half, light cream
1 Tb margarine or butter
4 ounces plain fettuccine
1/3 cup grated Parmesian cheese
Cracked Black Pepper

Allow half-and-half and margarine to stand at room temperature 30 minutes

Meanwhile, cook fettuccine 8 to 10 minutes or till tender but still firm. Drain. Return fettuccine to warm saucepan; add half-and-half, margarine, and Parmesian cheese. Toss gently till fettuccine is well coated. Transfer to a warm serving dish. Sprinkle with pepper. Makes 4 side dish servings.

Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or broccoli if you wish! Hmm good!

Freebies for the Day

Costco is offering a free sample of Ziploc Fresh Shield freezer bags. You do not have to be a Costco member in order to request this sample (a membership number is optional to enter in the form).

Funny Quote

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.

Money Saving Tip

Keep an idea notebook in your pocket. I’ve wasted countless amounts of time and money simply because I’ve forgotten things in my head. Instead of relying on my memory, I keep a small notebook with me to jot down ideas and things I need to remember, then I check it regularly throughout the day. This keeps me from forgetting to pick up milk and having to backtrack ten miles, for starters.
